Family holidays Beaches and excursions in Majorca that you will remember for life
Nature, culture and fun
Playa de Muro, designed for kids
Playa de Muro is one of the best beaches in Majorca, with a permanent blue flag and excellent environmental quality. It seems designed for children thanks to its calm and shallow waters. Iberostar Waves Alcudia Park, a 4-star hotel in Playa de Muro, offers children a unique entertainment formula: Star Camp, a novel program that allows them to discover and cultivate their talents by combining entertainment and values.
And if you prefer to enjoy an unspoiled beach, just stay at any of the hotels in Majorca near Es Comú de Muro, a totally rustic area integrated into Playa de Muro itself that is part of the Natural Park of s'Albufera.
Playa de Palma, an endless leisure offer
The Iberostar Selection Playa de Palma and Iberostar Waves Cristina hotels are two excellent options to enjoy this long, white-sanded beach with children. Both hotels are very close to fabulous attractions. For example, the Palma Aquarium is one of the best aquariums in Europe whose shark tank will fascinate the little ones. Or Aqualand water park, with slides that will boost the whole family’s adrenaline.
History and nature in Alcúdia Beach
The City of Pollentia, current Alcúdia, was the Roman capital of Majorca from the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD. Thanks to its good state of conservation, you can visit the ancient Roman Theater, temples and several necropolises.
Learning about the history of the disappeared Pollentia is a good plan after spending the day at the nearby Playa de Alcúdia. This beach is ideal to go with children and stay at Iberostar Waves Ciudad Blanca, apartments on the beach with all the amenities. There you will enjoy a hotel on the seafront designed for families.
A centennial journey aboard the Sóller train
This rustic wooden train, inaugurated in 1912, can be taken from the center of Palma and crosses the beautiful landscapes of the Sierra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once in Sóller, it is very pleasant to walk along the streets of this small village surrounded by orange groves. A small tram will allow you to get to know the port that connected Majorca with France centuries ago. There you can taste the area’s delicacy par excellence: Sóller’s prawns.
Journey to the center of the earth in the Caves of Drach
Access the heart of the earth as if you were a character from the Jules Verne novel. Surround yourself with the supernatural atmosphere. Play with the echo and walk among stalactites, stalagmites and stones with fantastic shapes created due to timely erosion. When you reach its underground lake, experience the sensation of surfing the waters to the sound of live music. An adventure that will amaze the little ones, and even more so if you are staying at Iberostar Waves Cala Millor, where you will be able to recall all your experiences together with the sunset views in the background.
Bird-watching in the S'Albufera Natural Park
S'Albufera is the most extensive wetland of the Balearic Islands. It was formed 100,000 years ago and its Natural Park boasts more than 1,640 hectares. More than 300 species of birds have been sighted by ornithologists, who estimate that around 10,000 birds hibernate here every year.
The Iberostar Selection Albufera Playa, an All-Inclusive hotel in Majorca, offers the Star Camp children's entertainment program and is very close to this park. S'Albufera has observatories to contemplate the birds in their natural habitat (do not forget the binoculars!), from ducks and herons to eagles and pilgrim hawks.
A leap into prehistory at the Son Real estate
In the Son Real estate you can discover what the life of our ancestors was like 4,000 years ago. Visit the Phoenician Point (Punta de los Fenicios), located by the sea, and learn how funerary rituals were performed millennia ago. In the archaeological museum you can see some of the utensils, dresses and tools that were used back then.
The dune ecosystems are another of the attractions of this place, which are very close to the Iberostar Selection Albufera Park and Iberostar Selection Albufera Playa beach hotels in Majorca.
Cabrera, the endless adventure
The excursion to the Maritime-Terrestrial National Park of Cabrera is one of the best childhood memories for most Majorcan people: the boat ride from Colònia de Sant Jordi, the disembarkation on the deserted beaches of the island, the walk to the lighthouse, snorkeling in the Blue Cave and swimming with turtles and other marine species.
