Iberostar JOINS IN ‘EARTH HOUR’

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts will be taking part again in the annual ‘Earth Hour’ initiative. At 8.30 p.m. on 19th March the company will turn off the lights for 60 minutes at more than 100 of its hotels across 16 countries around the world.
This is one of the Iberostar’s contributions to effectively raising awareness about human impact on the environment, directly involving its employees and guests in the various countries the company operates in.

For the second year running, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts will be taking part in ‘Earth Hour’. This global initiative aims to raise awareness about climate change and the need to find solutions to the environmental problems affecting our planet.

As part of its commitment to society and the environment, on 19 March Iberostar Hotels & Resorts will be turning out the lights for an hour in all the hotels it currently operates around the world, as well as at the company’s headquarters in Palma de Mallorca. This action will be accompanied by a series of awareness-raising projects targeting guests and employees in order to ensure maximum visibility and promotion for the initiative’s objectives and benefits.

This is the second time Iberostar has been involved in ‘Earth Hour’. The company’s actions in 2015 were highly successful, effectively getting across its message of commitment to more than 35,000 guests and 23,000 employees worldwide.

Under the slogan ‘Change climate change’, this WWF initiative (World Wide Fund for Nature) is set to become the world’s biggest mobilisation campaign against the impact of climate change. During this latest edition, millions of institutions, private companies and individuals will be joining a global action that seeks to make people aware of the need to protect the environment.

Laura Molano, Chief Marketing, Communications and CSR Officer, explained, “We are proud to be part of Earth Hour once again. In addition, we know that our modest contribution to this initiative can also have a far-reaching effect for us. Indeed, thanks to our involvement in the 2015 edition, we were able to share our thoughts, reflections and our commitment to the environment with almost 60,000 people, made up of our guests and employees around the world”.

This initiative is part of the Iberostar Hotels & Resorts Corporate Social Responsibility programme, through which the company takes part in actions designed to promote care and respect for the environment.
