Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism, David Collado, attended the opening, as well as other representatives of local institutions and Iberostar executives.
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts celebrated welcoming its first clients back at JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar, after more than six months of being closed due to the pandemic. With this reopening, the hotel chain has achieved the next milestone in the process of recovering in the Dominican Republic. With a gradual return to normal operations, the company currently has four hotels open again, of the seven it manages in the country.
JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar provides a tailored, adults-only, all-inclusive vacation designed for each guest and their vacation desires. The resort is located in Punta Cana, the jewel of the Caribbean, surrounded by swaying palms and turquoise waters. Designed to mirror Greco-Roman architecture, the resort grounds are dotted with custom-made art—even in the most unexpected areas. Those who choose to stay at the hotel receive personalized butler service, European linens, and impeccably designed rooms. The precisely decorated suites feature amenities designed to deliver a restful, memorable vacation. Each room includes a whirlpool that overlooks the beautiful grounds of Grand Bávaro. Also included are preferred pillows, a minibar with personalized selections, among others.
For more than 60 years, Iberostar has operated with the highest quality standards, and now it continues to strengthen and enrich its procedures and protocols with a holistic vision, scientific rigor and without taking a step back in caring for the environment. Since the return to operations, the hotel chain values the implementation of the How We Care program and the associated security measures. Iberostar has put quality first as a differential factor, safety as the key to the customer experience, and responsibility through its commitment to caring for people and the environment.
In its return to operations, Iberostar Group continues to monitor the evolution of the pandemic in all the destinations where it is located. The hotel chain sees the current situation as an opportunity to rebuild a more responsible, sustainable and resilient tourism sector. The company has incorporated health and safety as an essential pillar of its business model and part of the customer and employee experience, embracing sustainability as an engine and lever for recovery. Following the recommendations of public authorities and health institutions, it has developed measures aimed at taking care of employees and guaranteeing the customer experience, implementing new procedures in restaurants or at check-ins, using reusable masks, or applying measures that favor frequent hand washing. Some of these measures include the limitation of hotel occupancy, greater social distancing measures, and touch-less experience with the Iberostar App.
Iberostar owns seven properties in Dominican Republic: five in Punta Cana: JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar, Iberostar Selection Coral Bávaro, Iberostar Selection Bávaro Suites Suites Suites Suites Suites Suites Suites Suites, Iberostar Waves Dominicana and Iberostar Waves Punta Cana; one hotel in Puerto Plata, Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada; and one hotel in Bayahibe, Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus.
