“MARABANA”: A SPORTING CELEBRATION TO COMMEMORATE HAVANA'S FIFTH CENTENARY

10th November will see the return of the famous Marabana marathon to the streets of Havana. Iberostar is offering a unique opportunity to combine sport with stunning sea views and enjoy the fabulous atmosphere of the Cuban capital

10th November is the date set for the famous Marabana marathon, which has been attracting runners from around the world to Havana for more than 30 years. This year will see a very special edition of this event, as the Cuban capital is celebrating its fifth centenary. Iberostar Hotels & Resorts will be joining in the celebrations by providing support for the organisation of a marathon that reflects Marabana and the Iberostar Group’s shared determination to promote a healthy lifestyle. 

The marathon starting line will be located opposite the Iberostar Selection Parque Central and participants will also go past the Habana Riviera by Iberostar Cuba Cuba Cuba Cuba Cuba Cuba Cuba Cuba and the Iberostar Grand Packard, on a route lined with breathtaking sea views. There will be three race options: 10 km, a half marathon and full marathon.   

The route will give runners a unique sporting opportunity to celebrate the city’s fifth centenary, as well as discover emblematic areas such as Old Havana and its architectural treasures and monuments including the Sports City, the National Capitol Building or the Monument to the National Hero José Martí. What’s more, the event will give the participants the chance to admire three distinctive perspectives offered by Iberostar Hotels & Resorts’ three city hotels in the Cuban capital: from the Iberostar Grand Packard, views of El Morro Castle and Paseo del Prado, together with the historic monuments that line this avenue. Passing by the Iberostar Selection Parque Central will bring them within a short distance of Old Havana and the Capitol Building, whilst the Havana Riviera by Iberostar will afford a tantalising taste of the pace of life on Havana’s Malecón esplanade.
